Real Life Heroes: Educators Part 2

Matthew 28:18-20 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Following Jesus’ example and command, every Christian is called to TEACH.

Fundamental Assumptions:

  1. Truth is INDEPENDENT of humanity.

  • Mankind did not create or INVENT it. It existed before people and was in effect in spite of their ignorance.

  • Truth is not an OPINION.

  1. Truth is BIGGER than humanity.

  • No one person, nor all people combined, know EVERYTHING.

SCIENCE is the discipline of observation not judgment drawing hypotheses, theories, and conclusions.

  • Science should be UNBIASED and always open to new information that would change the conclusions until they land on an indisputable fact.

  • The trouble comes when science changes its function from observer to AUTHORITY.

SPIRITUALITY (God) is not a science, but a SUBMISSION to a higher source than man or nature as the authority on truth.

Every human being is spiritual and will exercise FAITH in something/someone as the ultimate source of truth, because as humans we will never have all the answers.

  1. To be a teacher one must take learning seriously and be TEACHABLE; we must be humble and correctable.

  1. The official textbook and authoritative resource on truth is the BIBLE (God’s Word). [Ref. Psalm 33:4; 119:160; Isaiah 40:8; Isaiah 55:9-11; Jeremiah 1:12; John 6:68; 1Peter 1:23-25; 2Peter 1:16-21]

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Psalm 119:89 Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.

2Timothy 3:16-17 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The Bible acts as that one ESSENTIAL, fundamental ingredient that if removed renders all the others vain, meaningless, and useless.

1 Corinthians 1:20 So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.

The message is only as authoritative and powerful as it is ALIGNED with God’s standard of truth (right and wrong).
