We never did get to to the sidewalk for the hannahs at the corner of Lincolndale rd. as we had talked to them back then and they myelf, Becky and a neighbor had told them we would do this for them a year and a half ago. The wife is in a wheel chair and he has heart trouble, they have to push it on a plywood sidewalk. Becky do you still have the projected cost that Rhonda had worked up as it wasnt that much then? That would be a great job for a couple three cell groups.

Rayford- I think you had the quotes last...hmm...do you remember seeing them in the move?? Maybe ask Connie? I know...every time I see him dragging her out that front door through the snow....I feel SOOOOOO guilty and feel like we let them down. Let's commit to pray this week and see what doors God opens to see if we are to still do this I know it would be a HUGE blessing to them. any other cell groups out there who would want to link up with us and pray about this?

What about a public picnic? or a public concert somewhere in the square? just some worship or something..
hmm...
or.. we can go around delivering stuffed animals to children who dont have much. :-)
With a note attached "This act of kindness is from OpenArms Community Church, showing God's love in a practical way."
just suggestions .. so please consider. I dont know about funds.. but overall.. im sure we can get something by the summer..
Maybe install a few air conditioning units in some homes.

Those are great ideas Justin!
Sadly.....what happened to all our outreach ideas.....I do believe we need to start reaching out more. OA started as a different church that went into the community to reach people. Have we become just another stale church? I pray not!
Get up off your duffs people and let's reach out!! Have picnics...have fires...have fun!!
When did outreaching become a chore? We used to hand out pepsi's and cokes at the intersections...it was spontanoues...dangerous and fun! haha! Even got the cops called on us a few times! But we were out there for people to see and wonder why we were doing crazy stuff! I don't know if any of those people we gave cans to ever came to the "church building" but our name in town became known as givers...I dont' know if that is what we are known as now.
Time to clean the slate and start fresh! And I also don't want people to get confused and think it is all about OA and the building...it isn't! It is about the kingdom! I don't want to outreach in OA's name but Jesus'! But, let's face it...if the people don't have a place to go for support...once they decide to accept Jesus then we have failed. They need Jesus and fellowship!
I think OA has some great people who love the Lord! I am proud to be part of this great body of believers!
Where's our spark..our passion..what makes us different than all the other buildings in town? What made us grow initially?...God did because we were obeying his command to go! So...let's GO!

It's not too hard for cell groups to plan something like this.
In fact, it's actually a requirement (or rather a strong suggestion) for cell groups to do some kind of kindness outreach monthly.
Sure, one cell group might not be able to afford 50 cases of Pepsi, but they might be able to pitch in and get three or four cases of pepsi... and if EVERY cell group did this, it would be an ENDLESS stream of outreach....
So far, I have heard of cell groups doing the following:
- Washing Car Windows at the Gas Station -Cleaning Toilets at the Riddell -Helping Build a Soap Box Derby Car -Helping a neighbor or family member move or get their new house ready
There are an unlimited number of ideas.... and we already have dozens of groups in place.
Want something bigger? Get a couple other groups to join you!

That's the thing. We aren't doing a "Monthly outreach" We do need to get our butts in gear, and start doing some. Every cell group, and as a church body! Not just cell groups. There are power in numbers. =D
Love ya guys.
