Body Building Part 3 – The Community

Our vision is to produce transformed (GOD-CONFORMED) lives addressing spiritual needs, relationships, health, finances, education, and leadership. (Isaiah 61:1-4)

Ephesians 4:11-16 11 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Fact: No one else can bear the weight of your RESPONSIBILITY in becoming who you were created to be.

There are certain things ONLY you can do.

Fact: You can NOT reach your fullest potential ALONE.

There are certain things you CAN’T or SHOULDN’T do alone.

We were made for interdependent COMMUNITY, to share and do life together.

  • We are INTERDEPENDENT not independent.

  • We NEED one another to SHARE life together.

  • We are not a PASTOR centered church, we’re a CHRIST centered church.

  • We do not DO church we ARE the church.

TOGETHER we are smarter, stronger, happier and can go farther and do more than we ever could alone.

God blesses us with a community of coaches, trainers, workout partners, and friends as well as other RESOURCES for instruction and aid.

  • Don’t AVOID or NEGLECT community.

  • Resources never REPLACE community.

Everyone needs a church family to BELONG to and CONTRIBUTE to.

While we each have a unique S.H.A.P.E. to do a special work, each of our parts work with and for the collective WHOLE.

Collectively they teach, challenge, correct, rebuke, encourage, call out (accountability), share our joys and sorrows, and HELP us in reaching our fullest potential.

Community is MESSY.

Romans 12:4-5, 9-18 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.

9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another.Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

My daily CHOICE to obey Jesus and my VALUE of people will determine my commitment and contribution to community.

Community isn’t a good idea it’s a COMMAND of God; it’s a SPIRITUAL issue.
